I'm actually surprised that this company even has 3 stars on Yelp. My daughter is away and needed to finish 3 windows at her house. Me & the wife met the two sales people there. They asked us if we'd be interested so they came to our house for an assessment and quote. After getting through the long presentation. We decided to accept. I wish I had read the other reviews out on Yelp before I said YES though. Below are the problems with this company:

1. There was no mention of a 3 business day window to cancel out this agreement.

2. We called 5-7 business days after thinking about this so called deal and cancelled. I was told that it was taken care of. Apparently that wasn't the case.

3. There is a Mike Sweet that runs the company. He is the least person you want to speak to for resolving your problem.

4. I started getting emails from their finance company GreenSky. I called them back and a totally different person answered I told her the problem and she said that she would have the finance guy take care of it. This is now approximately 1 month after I called and cancelled. Apparently the left hand doesn't talk to the right for anything.

5. I get a call from this Mike Sweet guy, a month after I cancelled, still trying to sell me these windows. I told him NO and that he needed to contact GreenSky to tell them it wasn't happening. I had also responded to their email that I didn't purchase the windows, I didn't get my house measured for windows and won't be having any windows installed.

6. Same day as # 5. above. Again, Mike Sweet, said well since you didn't cancel within the 3 business days we have to invoice you for $842.00 because we have to pay GreenSky monies to do the loan. Have never heard of this in my life. Why would they being paying the loan company to finance a customer. I've had several companies come to our house and sell us things. They always stipulated there were 3 business days to cancel. Universal's salesmen never mentioned a word of this. On a followup call I spoke with one of the owners. First thing out of her mouth was that it's spelled out in your contract. Any HONEST contracting company would have mentioned it in the sales pitch. I told him that it's sounding more like YOU kept trying to keep the install alive for a month and that's why you got charged. He said he had been calling my number and my wife's number for a month and we never called him back. The 2 numbers I have for this business never appeared on my phone or my wife's as calling us or leaving any voicemails whatsoever.

7. In my last call I spoke with a lady who was a co-owner of this company and told her about the $842.00 scam that Mike Sweet was running. I filled her in on everything else as well. She was very nice and said that she would speak with GreenSky due to all the circumstances and have the fee waived.

8. Today, almost 1.5 months since I cancelled, I get an email from GreenSky again after all of this with the statement that I missed my payment. Needless to say they got a very nasty email back from me. Which makes it the fourth email I've sent them. It also appears that NOBODY at this sorry Universal Windows has contacted them to even tell them that I cancelled over a month ago.

9. I called them again and spoke with another one of their employees, told them what was going on and that NO ONE has still contacted the finance company. If it isn't done by the end of this week I was going to file a lawsuit against them, GreenSky and any credit bureau that has a derogatory entry on my Credit Report from them. Since I was out of town she said she would take care of it. Well on my way back apparently I got another call from Mike Sweet asking me to call him back and explain what is going on. There is NO EXCUSE for this whatsoever.

I have a life and so does my wife. This problem should have been gone over a month ago. I've talked to 5 different people including a co-owner of this company regarding calling GreenSky and they still haven't done it. Most incompetent people in the world. I have contacted the BBB which usually turns out to be a waste of time. They always seem to be for the business and not the consumer. Maybe I'll charge Universal several thousand for incompetence and my time to resolve something so simple.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Preferred solution: Remove derogatory information on credit reporting agencies and close the damn account..

Universal Windows Direct Cons: Lies, Causing me problems, Very poor customer service.

Mr. Maisel, we take great pride in our honesty and integrity along with providing the best products in the industry.

These are just some of the reasons why we have over a million customers across the country. We find it completely unacceptable for you to refer to our company or any of our employees as a โ€œscamโ€. Your comments are truly disingenuous. If there were any truth to your insinuations, we would immediately terminate that employee and end our business relationship with the institution.

Our relationships with our customers are held in the highest regard. The majority of our customers come back to us many times over. As a matter of fact, your daughter is one of those customers. She has been a customer of ours since 2013 and as you stated, she had us come out to do additional work for her and her husband.

Because your daughter is in Germany, she obviously couldnโ€™t attend, leaving you as her surrogate decision maker. Our encounter has led to this unfortunate situation. That being said, the only defense our company has against your scathing review is to provide you and the readers with the facts. On March 4, 2019 you and your wife met with our representatives.

The meeting lasted over four hours because of the wonderful relationship that was being developed. You and Mrs. Maisel talked about your activities, likes and dis-likes. You discussed everything from hiking to juicing.

If Iโ€™m not mistaken, Mrs. Maisel didnโ€™t want them to leave. She actually made them dessert and ice cream. Both you and your wife were so pleased with our companyโ€™s product, reputation and representatives, that you asked us to install 22 windows in your home.

Both, you and Mrs. Maisel signed an agreement that we provided. Your comment about not being aware of the cancelation notice is also disingenuous. Enclosed in the agreement, (Below your signatures) is a โ€œCancelationโ€ option notice.

It reads in all CAPS; โ€œYOU THE BUYER MAY CANCEL THIS TRANSACTION WITHOUT PENALTY OR OBLIGATION WITHIN THREE BUSINESS DAYS FROM THE ABOVE DATE. IF YOU CANCEL, ANY PAYMENT MADE BY YOU UNDER THIS CONTRACT WILL BE RETURNED WITHIN TEN BUSINESS DAYS FOLLOWING RECEIPT BY SELLER OF YOUR CANCELLATION NOTICE.โ€ On March 18, 2019, fourteen days after we started taking care of all of the processes, from professionally measuring your window replacement locations to assisting you in your financing process, Mrs. Maisel called our office and asked to cancel. In between that 14-day period, our technician made several attempts to meet with you, to select a day that he could take the aforementioned measurements.

Calls were made to you from the office, our technicianโ€™s cell phone and Michael Sweet called you from his. When our technician finally reached you, you demanded that he drop everything and come out the same day. He tried scheduling you for the next day, and you refused because it wasnโ€™t โ€œNOWโ€. I believe this is โ€˜Sour Grapesโ€, that lead to our present situation, your cancellation.

As for Michael Sweet, he does not run the company. He is our sales manager. We depend upon him to assist in coordinating multiple programs for our company. Michael has always treated every customer with the upmost respect.

Many of those customers are now his personal friends. He is so conscientious of keeping a positive relationship with our customers, that he gives them his personal cell phone and asks them to call him at any time. Your description is the farthest thing from the truth. As far as your claim to the funds owed, that number is also inaccurate.

You were given the amount much less than you professed. The amount in discussion is the fee that we were charged, by the finance company, that you agreed to use. This fee is charged by the โ€œThird Partyโ€ Lender to the contractor (Us), to buy down or reduce the interest, to a lower interest rate for the unsecured loan that you were given. The fee is also charged to just about every vendor of unsecured financing in the country, to secure lower rates.

Again, this is a cost our company incurred after you canceled 14 days after the agreement date and 11 days after the rescission period, enforced by the laws in the state of Nevada. Last but not least, we paid the finance company the day of the cancellation.

If any of your claim has any truth to it, and it has caused you discomfort, we apologize and hope that we can find common ground and an opportunity to share dessert in the future. We still want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you.
